Khao Sok For serious trekkers and nature lovers, on the peninsula north of Phuket is Khao Sok National Park. The park covers an area of about 650 sq kms (though if combined with neighbouring wildlife sanctuaries the total protected area is 4,400 sq kms). Khao Sok straddles the mountain ridge that separates the east and west coasts of Thailand’s peninsula, and is a virgin tropical forest peppered with striking limestone formations towering up to 1000 metros.
